The caller stated that the victim had been shot. Joseph Delgado, 44, a resident of Jackson Township, was discovered by officers who responded to the call with a significant wound to his neck. When the officer arrived, Mr. Delgardio was already being attended to by members of the Fire Department who were administering first aid and CPR to him. Following an investigation by the Major Crime Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Jackson Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, it was discovered that Tamas was employed by a company that Verizon had hired to go door-to-door to solicit customers for Verizon.
Tamas went to Mr. Delgardio’s house and tried to drum up some business by approaching him at his door.
Tamas departed Mr. Delgardio’s apartment after Mr. Delgardio informed him that he was not interested in the proposal. After some time passes, Mr. Delgardio meets Tamas in the street, leading to a fight between them. Tamas pulled a knife from his pocket during the confrontation and used it to stab Mr. Delgardio in the neck.
Tamas was arrested without more incident at the scene and brought to the Ocean County Jail.
As a direct result of the reforms implemented in the New Jersey bail system, Tamas was eventually released from the Ocean County Jail.
