FORT PIERCE, Fla. — According to CNN, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged a gunshot during a Martin Luther King Jr. event in Fort Pierce, Florida, which resulted in eight individuals being shot.
According to public information officer Tonya Woodworth, one of the people who was shot was in critical condition. In contrast, four others were hurt while attempting to flee the scene.
She stated that the shooting occurred on Monday evening at Ilous Ellis Park, which was celebrating a Martin Luther King Jr. Day car show and “family fun day” at the time, according to the city website.
According to the flyer, the event featured a DJ, several activities for children, and an afternoon of judging for a vehicle display. According to the report, protection was provided by the sheriff’s department. The sheriff’s office would not comment on whether or not any suspects have been apprehended or whether or not they have identified a possible motivation for the crime.
