Police in Dallas says a 14-year-old girl is suspected of killing a younger child before turning the pistol on herself during an argument with another individual at an apartment complex.
The 14-year-old girl, according to the police, was fighting with another girl when she picked up a gun and fired at the other youngster. The gunshot hit an 11-year-old boy, and he eventually died from his wounds.
Officers from the Dallas Police Department responded to a call in the city’s Cedar Crest neighborhood on Sunday around 2:00 p.m. local time. The young girl, who was just 14 years old, fled the scene but was subsequently found at an adjacent apartment building.
She is still being detained at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center in Dallas, according to the police, and the weapon used in the crime has been located.
For unclear reasons, the police agency has not yet disclosed the children’s identities. The other girl involved in the altercation is still unidentified by the police, who have said that the incident is currently under investigation as “an ongoing probe.”
