On Sunday, December 25th, we learned of the death of Stephan Bonnar.
Mr. Bonna reportedly passed away from cardiac arrest.
He entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2013 after his fight with Forrest Griffin and has been retired since 2014.
A UFC pioneer has left the scene. The organization announced that Stephan Bonnar died on Thursday at 45 due to cardiac arrest.
He became one of the most iconic sports figures after his 2015 fight with Forrest Griffin.
The fighter has become one of the emblematic figures of MMA, especially since his fight in April 2005 against Forrest Griffin during the finale of the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” This fight was also the first to be introduced to the Hall of Fame of Fights in 2013.
UFC President Dana White offered him a contract to join the organization despite his loss. “That fight with Forrest Griffin changed the sport forever,” White said.
Stephan Bonnar was one of the greatest fighters in the Octagon. The fans adored him and identified with him. We will miss him, and we will never forget him. Dana White went on to say:
