Denver’s Super Bowl-winning running back Ronnie Hillman died Wednesday after a battle with cancer, his family announced on Instagram. He was 31.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother & father, Ronnie K Hillman Jr, ” Hillman’s family posted on Instagram. “Ronnie quietly and peacefully transitioned today in the company of his family and close friends. We, as a family, appreciate the prayers and kind words that have already been expressed. We ask that you give us time to process our feelings as we prepare to lay our precious RJ to rest.”

They passed away from cancer at just 31 years old and were gone before Christmas. Too sad; I can’t imagine the pain and grief his family and friends are dealing with now.

He was a vital part of that Super Bowl 50 run, and I always loved the different mouthguards he’d wear. Nobody deserves to pass away this young. Cancer sucks. I hope his family is the best in getting through this.
